The Susan M. Ruka Award for Excellence in Aging and Public Health
Purpose:
To honor the life and legacy of Dr. Susan Marie Ruka by annually recognizing a New Hampshire or Western Maine individual who demonstrates outstanding dedication, innovation, and leadership in improving the lives of older adults and promoting public health.
Awarding Body:
Visiting Nurse Home Care and Hospice of Carroll County & Western Maine
For a healthcare professional, community leader, or volunteer
Award Criteria
Nominees should exemplify:
- A demonstrated impact on elder care or the aging population in New Hampshire and Western Maine
- A commitment to senior services.
- Mentorship or leadership that inspires others.
- Community engagement, service, or innovation aligned with Sue’s legacy.
Eligibility:
Open to individuals based in or primarily serving New Hampshire or Western Maine. Must be nominated (no self-nominations).
Nomination Process
- Open nominations:
- Announce Feb. 1
- Apply by Mar. 15
- Announce by April 15
- Presentation in May (Sue’s Birthday Month)
- Please Submit:
- Letter of nomination including nominee’s name, title, organization and relevant work history (max 2 pages)
- Supporting materials (e.g., news stories, testimonials)
- Letter of nomination including nominee’s name, title, organization and relevant work history (max 2 pages)
