Volunteers
Volunteers make a difference in the lives of hospice patients and their families.
Visiting Nurse Home Care and Hospice of Carroll County and Western Maine is always looking for volunteers interested supporting our hospice program.
When you volunteer, the rewards are many: your wages come in the form of shared connection, hope, and lasting impressions.
Volunteers describe their work as gratifying, intellectually stimulating, and emotionally meaningful.
We need a wide variety of volunteers to meet the needs and interests of our hospice families as our program grows.
New Online Volunteer Training
New for 2025, we have a hybrid volunteer training program allowing volunteers to complete a large portion of the orientation through a self-paced course from the comfort of home. In-office training is also an option who prefer it. We’re looking for volunteers who have the desire to share their skills and time with the community and we will provide the rest.
Type of Volunteering
Our hospice volunteers visit patients in their homes, in local nursing care facilities or support administrative tasks for the hospice program at the VNHCH offices. Here is a short list of the types of volunteer roles available:
- Home Hospice Visits
- Hospice Visiting in a Facility
- Bereavement Support
- Rememberance
- Fundraising
- Office Work
- Errands
Time Commitment
We welcome volunteers ready to commit to a minimum of 2-4 regularly scheduled hours a week. This helps us provide our hospice families with a consistent and familiar volunteer week to week.
